Thanks to everyone who kindly tried to help me find the origin of this quote today, which I sought for some vague, pointless reason. Since those of you who are still curious are doubtless finding this blog entry now, I'll tell you what one intrepid Googler was able to discover (thank you, Drew): it was most likely Sly Stallone, around 1976.
It's not much of a quote, but no one else seems to have said it.
UPDATE: There are a number of interesting hits on a Google search for intellectual caveman.

I could think of at least a dozen other possible speakers, famous & not. But Stallone seems pretty likely.
Although it begs the question - if you think you're stupid, aren't you then slightly intelligent?
I don't know why I feel that this is unkind to a caveman...
And why exactly were you searching for this quote, since you don't quite fit the either Sly Stallone or caveman level of intellectualism? Is there someone you were wanting to refer to who we should know about?
I was trying to answer a trivia question for my boss's boss. I was too late. But I can't imagine that anyone else in her team-building exercise got it right, either.
That's right. A team-building exercise.
"Team-building." That gives me chill bumps.
