This is what it's like

South of here last week there was little snow. And fewer, albeit still plentiful, deer.

Where I grew up, a deer sighting was about as likely as a polar bear. So you can imagine that I feel as though I've moved to the American Museum of Natural History and Yellowstone, while the lad will probably grow up to be a hunter.

This is a beautifully suggestive black-and-white photo...the child longing to be out, not hunting, but playing with the deer.

I also like very much your new smiling picture at the top of your blog.

Beautiful picture.

I love this picture.

The zenith of wildlife excitement in SW9 amounts to a squirrel on the dining-room windowsill. Outside, not inside. Usually.

That's quite a shot. Suitable for framing.

Is hunting season over where you live?

Thanks all.

Deer season is right around Thanksgiving, maybe three-four weeks. Most of the year, they just eat gardens and dodge cars.

And Antonia, you're lying. There are foxes in your garden.

This is a shot that should be in a magazine!

Stunning photo.

Every time I spot a deer or coyote or even a hawk while I'm out, I am delighted to know they're still hanging around us noisy, belligerent humans...
